On Peace and Compassion

Hello world!

Today, I am writing to you to help you understand the significance of peace and compassion in our lives. Life is a journey is something that we all are aware of, but the secret of making this journey a memorable one lies in instilling happiness in the lives of others. This thought might sound to be 'poetic' to many, but trust me, this is the only truth that will prevail forever.

We can make our lives blissful or filled with sorrow, with our own thoughts and conduct. No matter how much joy we gain from material or tangible possessions, true serenity comes from the joy of giving. With this in mind, the simplest and the most precious thing that we can give away to others is a careful thought and concern for their well-being.

I hail from the land of saints and hermits, and thus, deeply understand the vitality of peace for human existence. At this point in time, we are standing at a verge, where the continuation of the human race, or say, life on this planet is at risk. If we do not understand this even at this time, the consequences will be awful.

Even otherwise, I fail to understand, what is the reason behind shedding blood and creating chaos in the world. Nobody in the world, no matter how powerful or revengeful, can ever be happy on seeing an orphan crying for care. Even the most ruthless person will sympathise in such a situation. Then, why let this happen at all?

'Prevention is better than cure.' Believe me, it is easier to empathise than sympathise. If we try to feel the pain and difficulties of others, we can surely help them in solving their problems through co-operation and mutual understanding. Again, these may sound as theoretical ideas to some. So, let me cite an example. 'A rope leaves its imprint on the sides of a well.' Of course it takes its time, but this surely happens. If this is true, then I find no point in using violence as a means so as to establish one's might in the world.

I personally believe in the existence of duality in everything in the universe. So is the case with our predicaments. If there exists a problem, so exists its solution, and with utmost faith, I claim that the solution to every problem can be provided peacefully. The requirement is to have patience, compassion and respect for everyone.

In the present day world, the most important thing to concentrate upon to establish peace and have a holistic growth of humanity is to imbibe and pass on the values of ethics, integrity and accountability to our future generations.

Whatever we sow today, is what children will reap in future. They will simply reflect our conduct in their lives. If we make them see us fight, they will learn the same behaviour. If we make them see us care for others, they will make the world even more beautiful.

Ancient scriptures in the land from where I come, teach us,
'वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम्'
Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam
which means that the world is a family, and with that note, I urge to one and all to pledge to reach out to those in need, spread smiles, and seek to non-violent methods to resolve familial, social, economical and political issues at large.
